In North America, the film made $60 million, and globally, it brought in $48.3 million. That makes for a combined total of<strong> $108.3 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That exceeds the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/the-resident-evil-movie-is-already-breaking-records\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">original prediction<\/a> of between $40 million and $50 million by a comfortable margin. It still has a way to go to beat the franchise&#8217;s current record holder, 2016&#8217;s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, as the last movie to star Milla Jovovich in the lead role brought in a whopping $312 million at the global box office during its theatrical run. It has\u00a0earned a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/resident_evil_2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">96% rating\u00a0on Rotten Tomatoes from 140 reviews<\/a>, and on GameSpot&#8217;s Sister site, Metacritic, the movie\u00a0has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/movie\/resident-evil-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">metascore of 80<\/a> from 32\u00a0reviews.
