No news is good news, they say. They also say that some news, however little, is good news, too, and girl, do we have some<\/em> news: Ubisoft’s struggling action-adventure game Beyond Good & Evil 2<\/a> is still alive despite remaining in development hell.<\/p>\n

Ubisoft Bordeaux’s lead writer and associate narrative director Rik Godwin took to Bluesky on September 22<\/a> to provide a brief update on the game.<\/p>\n

“Odd sort of non-announcement but for the past few months I’ve been working on Beyond Good & Evil 2 in a support\/consultant role,” Godwin, who was a writer on Assassin’s Creed Shadows<\/a>, said. “I am allowed to say this, I checked.”<\/p>\n

It makes sense that Ubisoft Bordeaux would assist with Beyond Good & Evil 2. According to IGN<\/a>, Ubisoft Montpellier, which is leading the project’s development, is just south of the Bordeaux studio. And although Ubisoft Bordeaux was the lead developer on both 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage<\/a> and Shadows’ 2025 expansion Claws of Awaji<\/a>, that studio typically operates in a support role for Ubisoft’s myriad other teams.<\/p>\n

This minor update comes nearly 10 years after Ubisoft re-revealed Beyond Good & Evil 2 at E3 2017, and nearly 20 years after Ubisoft announced the action-adventure sequel all the way back in May 2008. There have been some rumblings of progress, with Ubisoft posting hints that development was ongoing in November 2025<\/a> and January 2026<\/a>. However, whatever progress that has been made has been slow at best<\/a> and invisible at worst.<\/p>\n

Although there’s no release date at the moment, Ubisoft has continued to swear that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be released<\/a> in due time. Just don’t expect it anytime soon, and at this rate, maybe don’t expect it in this current console generation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
