While there&#8217;s no official word on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/haunted-chocolatier-release-date-trailer-news\/1100-6535251\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Haunted Chocolatier release date<\/a>, Barone has been discussing the development of the game, including who it&#8217;s for and more about the playstyle. In a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq-magazine.co.uk\/article\/a-decade-after-stardew-valley-eric-barone-is-still-going-it-alone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GQ<\/a>, Barone said that Haunted Chocolatier is &#8220;more of an action RPG,&#8221; although it is still what he&#8217;d call &#8220;a town game.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The main focus is more about adventuring, finding equipment and getting more powerful. There are monsters, there are boss fights. It&#8217;s for the people in Stardew Valley that go into the mines,&#8221; he explained. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ConcernedApe&amp;apos;s Haunted Chocolatier -- Early Gameplay\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kJy7LF789lo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Writing on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hauntedchocolatier.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Haunted Chocolatier website<\/a>, Barone <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/haunted-chocolatier-long-development-comes-down-to-chasing-perfection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">regularly apologizes<\/a> for the game &#8220;taking so long,&#8221; but reassures fans that he&#8217;s making good progress on the game. &#8220;I won&#8217;t compromise on the quality of the game by rushing it or releasing it too early,&#8221; he adds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, now that we have more information on what the game might entail, the wait feels like it will be worth it. According to GQ, Barone has &#8220;returned to isolation&#8221; to focus on finishing Haunted Chocolatier. &#8220;I really want to recapture that feeling that I had when I was making Stardew Valley,&#8221; Barone said. &#8220;Everyone&#8217;s watching me, and if I don&#8217;t do things a certain way, it might disappoint millions of people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haunted Chocolatier is also shaping up to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/haunted-chocolatier-wont-just-be-bigger-than-stardew-valley-itll-also-be-creepier\/1100-6539919\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bigger, and creepier,<\/a> than Stardew Valley. In 2025, Barone said he &#8220;hoped&#8221; the game would release within the next five years, so we should get our hands on it before 2030, all being well.
